Service and quality since 1889
Ritchies Jewellers have been serving the Bundaberg community since 1889 when it commenced trading as McLeod and Son. Like a fine diamond, Ritchies Jewellers has been passed down through the generations from 1889 to today.
The current owners, Trent and Shaye Cullum acquired the business in 2002.
Trent is a highly qualified jeweller with over 13 years of experience.
In 2013, Trent was awarded second place in the Australasian Young Designers on Show competition. Trent’s entry was his own “mohume gane”– a traditional Japanese technique for laminating metals together, which has a very high difficulty factor and requires exceptional precision. The piece incorporated a “Seashell” diamond from the famous diamond cutter Sir Gabriel Tolkowsky.
The utilisation of Computer Aided Design (CAD) enables the creation of clear images of what jewellery pieces will look like before the physical work begins. Ritchies Jewellers uses the latest technology to design or remodel bespoke jewellery for their customers.
Ritchies Jewellers is an Antwerp Diamond Broker with staff travelling regularly to the diamond buying and cutting houses in Antwerp to select diamonds on behalf of their customers thereby offering a highly personalised service. On return, Ritchies Jewellers create handcrafted jewellery in their workshop to meet the jewellery needs of their customers.
One of Trent’s recent projects was a remodelling of a wedding/eternity/engagement ring set for a customer. The largest diamond was three carats in size, and all up the three rings contained a total of six carats. Trent was able to incorporate all of the customers existing diamonds into a stunning flower cut design.
Trent is known for his perfectionism, and enjoys the challenge of exceeding customer expectations with his designs.
